The signs
Moses answered, 'Yeah, but what if they don't believe me or listen? They'll say, “The Lord never appeared to you.”' The Lord asked him, 'What's that in your hand?' 'A staff,' Moses said. 'Throw it on the ground.' Moses threw it down and it became a serpent. Moses backed away fast. The Lord said, 'Reach out and grab it by the tail.' Moses did, and it became a staff again in his hand. So they'd believe that the Lord God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you. The Lord said, 'Now put your hand inside your cloak.' Moses did, and when he pulled it out, his hand was leprous, white as snow. Then he said, 'Put your hand inside your cloak again.' Moses did, and when he pulled it out, it was restored like the rest of his flesh. 'If they won't believe you or heed the first sign, they may believe the second.' 'And if they still won't believe these two signs or listen to you, take water from the Nile and pour it on dry ground. The water you take from the Nile will become blood on the ground.'
And Moses answered: But look — they won't believe me or listen to my voice. Because they'll say: The Lord hasn't shown himself to you. And the Lord said to him: What's that in your hand? And he said: A rod. And he said: Throw it on the ground. And he threw it on the ground, and it turned into a snake. And Moses ran from it. And the Lord said to Moses: Put out your hand and take it by the tail. And he put out his hand and caught it, and it turned into a rod in his hand — so they'd believe that the Lord God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, has shown himself to you. And the Lord said to him again: Put your hand into your shirt now. And he put his hand into his shirt. And when he took it out, look — his hand was white with disease like snow. And he said: Put your hand into your shirt again. And he put his hand into his shirt again and took it out of his shirt. And look — it was turned again like the rest of his flesh. And it'll be, if they won't believe you or listen to the voice of the first sign, that they'll believe the voice of the second sign. And it'll be, if they won't believe even these two signs or listen to your voice, that you'll take some of the water of the river and pour it on the dry land. And the water you take out of the river will turn to blood on the dry land.

And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow. And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh. And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign. And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.

And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.

I'm not a man of words
Moses said to the Lord, 'Please, Lord, I've never been much of a speaker — not before, and not since you've been talking to me. I'm slow of speech and slow of tongue.' The Lord said, 'Who made man's mouth? Who makes someone mute or deaf, seeing or blind? Isn't it I, the Lord?' 'Now go. I'll be with your mouth and teach you what to say.' Moses said, 'Please, Lord — send somebody else.' Then the Lord's anger burned against Moses. He said, 'What about Aaron the Levite, your brother? I know he can speak well. He's already on his way to meet you, and he'll be glad to see you.' 'You'll speak to him and put the words in his mouth. I'll be with your mouth and his mouth, and I'll teach you both what to do.' 'He'll speak to the people for you. He'll be your spokesman, and you'll be to him in God's place.' 'And take this staff in your hand. You'll use it to perform the signs.'
And Moses said to the Lord: My Lord, I'm not a man of words, not before and not since you've spoken to your servant. But I'm slow of speech and slow of tongue. And when he sees you, he'll be glad in his heart. And you'll speak to him and put words in his mouth. And I'll be with your mouth and with his mouth, and I'll teach you what you'll do. And he'll be your speaker to the people. And he'll be a mouth to you, and you'll be to him like God. And you'll take this rod in your hand, that you'll do the signs with.
And Moses said unto the LORD, O my LORD, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. And he said, O my LORD, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send. And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart. And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do. And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God. And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.

The Lord said, 'Who made man's mouth? Who makes someone mute or deaf, seeing or blind? Isn't it I, the Lord?'
And the Lord said to him: Who's made man's mouth? Or who makes the dumb or the deaf, or the seeing or the blind? Isn't it me, the Lord?
And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?
'Now go. I'll be with your mouth and teach you what to say.'
So go now, and I'll be with your mouth and teach you what you'll say.
Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
Moses said, 'Please, Lord — send somebody else.'
And he said: My Lord, send by the hand of whoever you'll send.
And he said, O my LORD, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.
Then the Lord's anger burned against Moses. He said, 'What about Aaron the Levite, your brother? I know he can speak well. He's already on his way to meet you, and he'll be glad to see you.'
And the anger of the Lord was lit against Moses, and he said: Isn't Aaron the Levite your brother? I know he can speak well. And look — he's coming out to meet you too. And when he sees you, he'll be glad in his heart.
And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.
'You'll speak to him and put the words in his mouth. I'll be with your mouth and his mouth, and I'll teach you both what to do.'

And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.
'He'll speak to the people for you. He'll be your spokesman, and you'll be to him in God's place.'
And he'll be your speaker to the people. And he'll be a mouth to you, and you'll be to him like God.
And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God.
'And take this staff in your hand. You'll use it to perform the signs.'
And you'll take this rod in your hand, that you'll do the signs with.
And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.
Back to Egypt
Moses went back to Jethro his father-in-law and said, 'Please let me return to my people in Egypt and see whether they're still alive.' Jethro told him, 'Go in peace.' The Lord said to Moses in Midian, 'Return to Egypt, because all the men who sought your life are dead.' Moses took his wife and his sons and set them on a donkey, and he returned to the land of Egypt. And Moses took the staff of God in his hand. The Lord told Moses, 'When you return to Egypt, make sure you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders I have put in your hand. But I will harden his heart, and he will not let the people go.' 'Then tell Pharaoh: This is what the Lord says — Israel is my son, my firstborn.' 'I tell you: Let my son go so he may serve me. If you refuse to let him go, look: I will kill your son, your firstborn.' On the journey, at a lodging place, the Lord met him and sought to kill him. Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, circumcised her son, cast the foreskin at his feet and said, 'Surely a bloody husband you are to me.' So he let him go. Then she said, 'A bloody husband,' because of the circumcision. The Lord said to Aaron, 'Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.' So Aaron went, met him at the mountain of God, and kissed him. Moses told Aaron all the words of the Lord who'd sent him, and all the signs he'd commanded him. Then Moses and Aaron went and gathered all the elders of Israel. Aaron told them everything the Lord had said to Moses, and Moses performed the signs before the people. The people believed. When they heard that the Lord had visited the Israelites and seen their suffering, they bowed their heads and worshipped.
And Moses went and came back to Jethro his father-in-law and said to him: Let me go, please, and come back to my brothers in Egypt and see whether they're still alive. And Jethro said to Moses: Go in peace. And the Lord said to Moses in Midian: Go back to Egypt. Because all the men are dead who were looking for your life. Moses went back to Jethro his father-in-law and said, 'Please let me return to my people in Egypt and see whether they're still alive.' Jethro told him, 'Go in peace.'
And Moses went and came back to Jethro his father-in-law and said to him: Let me go, please, and come back to my brothers in Egypt and see whether they're still alive. And Jethro said to Moses: Go in peace.
And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.
The Lord said to Moses in Midian, 'Return to Egypt, because all the men who sought your life are dead.'
And the Lord said to Moses in Midian: Go back to Egypt. Because all the men are dead who were looking for your life.
And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.
Moses took his wife and his sons and set them on a donkey, and he returned to the land of Egypt. And Moses took the staff of God in his hand.

And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.
'Then tell Pharaoh: This is what the Lord says — Israel is my son, my firstborn.'
And you'll say to Pharaoh: This is what the Lord says. Israel is my son, my firstborn.
And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:
'I tell you: Let my son go so he may serve me. If you refuse to let him go, look: I will kill your son, your firstborn.'
And I say to you: Let my son go, so he can serve me. And if you refuse to let him go, look — I'll kill your son, your firstborn.
And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.

The people believed. When they heard that the Lord had visited the Israelites and seen their suffering, they bowed their heads and worshipped.
And the people believed. And when they heard that the Lord had looked at the people of Israel and that he'd seen their trouble, then they bowed their heads and bowed down.
