Made alive together with Christ

And you he made alive, when you were dead in trespasses and sins, which you once walked in, following the course of this world, following the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience. We all lived among them once, in the cravings of our flesh, doing what the flesh and the mind wanted, and by nature we were children of anger, like everyone else. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of the great love he had for us, made us alive together with Christ even when we were dead in sins — it is by grace you are saved — and raised us up together, and seated us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come he might show the surpassing riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, so nobody can boast. Because we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand for us to walk in.

And you he's made alive, who were dead in what you'd stepped over and in sins. That you walked in in time past according to the way of this world, according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience. Among them we all had our way of life in times past too in the wants of our flesh, doing what the flesh and the mind wanted. And we were by nature the children of anger, the same as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love he loved us with, even when we were dead in sins, has made us alive together with Christ. (By grace you're saved.) And has raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. So in the ages to come he could show the great riches of his grace in his kindness towards us through Christ Jesus. Because by grace you're saved through faith. And that not of yourselves. It's the gift of God. Not of works, so no man can boast. Because we're his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, that God has got ready before, so we should walk in them.

And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

One new man

So remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh, called the Uncircumcision by those called the Circumcision — that done in the flesh by human hands — remember that at that time you were without Christ, shut out from the commonwealth of Israel, strangers to the covenants of promise, with no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus, you who were once far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace. He has made the two one and has broken down the dividing wall between us, doing away in his flesh with the hostility, the law of commandments in its regulations, so as to make in himself one new man out of the two, making peace, and to reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, having killed the hostility by it. And he came and preached peace to you who were far off, and peace to those who were near. Because through him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. So you are no longer strangers and outsiders. You are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ himself as the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you too are being built together into a dwelling place for God through the Spirit.

So remember that you, being in time past nations in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by what's called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands — that at that time you were without Christ, being strangers from the citizenship of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who were sometimes far off are made near by the blood of Christ. Because he's our peace, who's made both one and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us. Having done away in his flesh the enmity, that is, the teaching of orders in rules — so he could make in himself of the two one new man, so making peace. And so he could bring both back to God in one body by the cross, having killed the enmity by it. And came and preached peace to you who were far off and to the ones who were near. Because through him we both have a way in by one Spirit to the Father. So now you aren't strangers and foreigners any more, but fellow citizens with the holy ones and of the household of God. And are built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone. In him all the building fitted together grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you're built together too for a dwelling place of God through the Spirit.

Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
