The blessings
If you listen diligently to the Lord your God and are careful to do all his commandments I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. All these blessings will come on you and overtake you, if you listen to the Lord your God. You'll be blessed in the city, and you'll be blessed in the field. The fruit of your body, the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle will be blessed — the young of your cattle and the flocks of your sheep. Your basket and your kneading bowl will be blessed. You'll be blessed when you come in, and you'll be blessed when you go out. The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be struck down before you. They will come against you one way and flee before you seven ways. The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in everything you put your hand to. He will bless you in the land the Lord your God gives you. The Lord will establish you as a holy people to himself, as he swore to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and follow his ways. All the peoples of the earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will be afraid of you. The Lord will make you plenteous in goods — in the fruit of your body, the fruit of your cattle and the fruit of your ground — in the land the Lord swore to your fathers to give you. The Lord will open to you his good treasure, the heaven, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand. You will lend to many nations, and you will not borrow. The Lord will make you the head and not the tail. You will be above only and not beneath, if you listen to the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you today and are careful to do them. Do not turn aside from any of the words I command you today, to the right hand or the left, to go after other gods and serve them.
And if you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God, watching that you do all his orders that I'm ordering you today, then the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings will come on you and catch up with you, if you listen to the voice of the Lord your God. Blessed in the town, and blessed in the field. Blessed the fruit of your body and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the flocks of your sheep. Blessed your basket and your kneading trough. Blessed when you come in, and blessed when you go out. The Lord will make the ones who get up against you be struck down in front of you. They'll come out against you one way and run from you seven ways. The Lord will order the blessing on you in your storehouses and in everything you put your hand to. And he'll bless you in the land the Lord your God is giving you. The Lord will set you up as a holy people to himself, the way he swore to you, if you keep the orders of the Lord your God and walk in his ways. And all the peoples of the earth will see that you're called by the name of the Lord, and they'll be frightened of you. And the Lord will make you have plenty of good things — in the fruit of your body and in the fruit of your cattle and in the fruit of your ground, in the land the Lord swore to your fathers to give you. The Lord will open his good treasure to you, the sky, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand. And you'll lend to plenty of nations and you won't borrow. And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you'll only be above and you won't be below — if you listen to the orders of the Lord your God that I'm ordering you today, to watch and do them. And don't turn aside from any of the words I'm ordering you today, to the right or the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways. And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee. And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee. The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
The curses
But if you will not listen to the Lord your God and be careful to do all his commandments and rules I command you today, then all these curses will come on you and overtake you. You'll be cursed in the city, and you'll be cursed in the field. Your basket and your kneading bowl will be cursed. The fruit of your body, the fruit of your land, the young of your cattle and the flocks of your sheep will be cursed. You'll be cursed when you come in, and you'll be cursed when you go out. The Lord will send cursing, trouble and rebuke on you in everything you put your hand to do, until you are destroyed and perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your deeds by which you have abandoned me. The Lord will make disease cling to you until he has consumed you from off the land you are going in to possess. The Lord will strike you with consumption, fever, inflammation and extreme burning, and with the sword, blasting and mildew. They will pursue you until you perish. The heaven over your head will be bronze, and the earth beneath you iron. The Lord will turn the rain of your land into powder and dust. It will come down on you from heaven until you are destroyed. The Lord will cause you to be struck down before your enemies. You will go out against them one way and flee before them seven ways, and you will be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth. Your carcase will be food for all the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and no one will frighten them away. The Lord will strike you with the boils of Egypt, with haemorrhoids, scabs and an itch that can’t be healed. The Lord will strike you with madness, blindness and astonishment of heart. You'll grope around at noon like a blind man in the dark, and nothing you do will prosper. You'll be oppressed and robbed all the time, with no one to save you. You will promise a woman in marriage, and another man will sleep with her. You will build a house and not live in it. You will plant a vineyard and not gather its grapes. Your ox will be killed before your eyes and you will not eat from it. Your donkey will be violently taken from before your face and not restored to you. Your sheep will be given to your enemies, and you will have no one to rescue them. Your sons and daughters will be given to another people. Your eyes will look for them and fail with longing all day long, and there will be no might in your hand. A nation you don't know will eat the fruit of your land and everything you've worked for, and you'll be constantly oppressed and crushed. You will be driven mad by the sight of what your eyes see. The Lord will strike your knees and legs with painful sores that can’t be healed, from the soles of your feet to the top of your head. The Lord will bring you, and the king you set over you, to a nation neither you nor your fathers have known. There you will serve other gods, wood and stone. You will become an astonishment, a proverb and a byword among all the nations where the Lord leads you. You will carry much seed out into the field and gather little in, because the locust will consume it. You will plant vineyards and dress them, but you will neither drink the wine nor gather the grapes, because worms will eat them. You'll have olive trees throughout your land, but you won't use their oil, because the olives will drop before they ripen. You will have sons and daughters, but you will not enjoy them, because they will go into captivity. The locust will consume all your trees and the fruit of your land. The stranger among you will rise higher and higher above you, while you come down lower and lower. He will lend to you, and you will not lend to him. He will be the head, and you will be the tail. All these curses will come on you, pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed, because you would not listen to the voice of the Lord your God or keep his commandments and rules that he commanded you. They will be on you for a sign and a wonder, and on your descendants forever.
But if you won't listen to the voice of the Lord your God, watching that you do all his orders and his rules that I'm ordering you today, then all these curses will come on you and catch up with you. Cursed in the town, and cursed in the field. Cursed your basket and your kneading trough. Cursed the fruit of your body and the fruit of your land, the increase of your herds and the flocks of your sheep. Cursed when you come in, and cursed when you go out. The Lord will send cursing on you, and trouble and telling-off, in everything you put your hand to, till you're wrecked and quickly finished — because of the wickedness of what you've done in walking out on me. The Lord will make plague stick to you till it's finished you off the land you're going in to own. The Lord will strike you with wasting and with fever and with burning, with the sword and with blight and with mildew. And they'll chase you till you're finished. And the sky over your head will be bronze, and the earth under you iron. The Lord will turn the rain of your land into powder and dust. It'll come down on you from the sky till you're wrecked. The Lord will make you be struck down in front of the ones against you. You'll go out against them one way and run from them seven ways. And you'll be knocked about among all the kingdoms of the earth. And your dead body will be food for all the birds of the sky and the animals of the earth, with nobody to scare them off. The Lord will strike you with the boils of Egypt and with sores and with scabs and with itch that can't be healed. The Lord will strike you with madness and blindness and a heart in a spin. And you'll feel about at noon the way a blind man feels about in the dark. And you won't do well in your ways. And you'll only be crushed and robbed all your days, with nobody to save you. You'll promise yourself to a woman, and another man will lie with her. You'll build a house and you won't live in it. You'll plant a vineyard and you won't gather its grapes. Your ox will be killed in front of your eyes and you won't eat any of it. Your donkey will be taken by force in front of your face and won't be given back to you. Your sheep will be handed over to the ones against you, and you'll have nobody to save you. Your sons and your daughters will be handed over to another people, and your eyes will look and fail for them all day long, and there'll be no strength in your hand. The harvest of your land and everything you've worked for will be eaten by a nation you don't know. And you'll only be crushed and ground down all the time. And you'll go mad at what your eyes see. The Lord will strike you in the knees and in the legs with a bad boil that can't be healed, from the sole of your foot to the top of your head. The Lord will bring you and the king you set over you to a nation you and your fathers haven't known. And there you'll serve other gods, wood and stone. And you'll turn into a horror, a byword and something to laugh at among all the peoples the Lord takes you to. You'll carry plenty of seed out to the field and gather little in, because the locust will eat it. You'll plant vineyards and work them, and you won't drink the wine or gather the grapes, because the worms will eat them. You'll have olive trees through all your borders, and you won't anoint yourself with the oil, because your olives will drop off. You'll father sons and daughters, and they won't be yours, because they'll go into captivity. The locust will take over all your trees and the fruit of your land. The stranger among you will get higher and higher above you, and you'll come down lower and lower. He'll lend to you and you won't lend to him. He'll be the head and you'll be the tail. And all these curses will come on you and chase you and catch up with you till you're wrecked — because you wouldn't listen to the voice of the Lord your God or keep his orders and his rules that he ordered you. And they'll be a sign and a wonder on you and on your offspring forever.
But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee: Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field. Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store. Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out. The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me. The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it. The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish. And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron. The LORD shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed. The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth. And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away. The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed. The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart: And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee. Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof. Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to rescue them. Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand: The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway: So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see. The LORD shall smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head. The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone. And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee. Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it. Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them. Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit. Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity. All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume. The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low. He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail. Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee: And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.
But if you will not listen to the Lord your God and be careful to do all his commandments and rules I command you today, then all these curses will come on you and overtake you.
But if you won't listen to the voice of the Lord your God, watching that you do all his orders and his rules that I'm ordering you today, then all these curses will come on you and catch up with you.

You'll be cursed when you come in, and you'll be cursed when you go out.

And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.
The Lord will turn the rain of your land into powder and dust. It will come down on you from heaven until you are destroyed.
The Lord will turn the rain of your land into powder and dust. It'll come down on you from the sky till you're wrecked.
The LORD shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
The Lord will cause you to be struck down before your enemies. You will go out against them one way and flee before them seven ways, and you will be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
The Lord will make you be struck down in front of the ones against you. You'll go out against them one way and run from them seven ways. And you'll be knocked about among all the kingdoms of the earth.
The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.

The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.
The Lord will strike you with madness, blindness and astonishment of heart.
The Lord will strike you with madness and blindness and a heart in a spin.
The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart:
You'll grope around at noon like a blind man in the dark, and nothing you do will prosper. You'll be oppressed and robbed all the time, with no one to save you.
And you'll feel about at noon the way a blind man feels about in the dark. And you won't do well in your ways. And you'll only be crushed and robbed all your days, with nobody to save you.
And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.
You will promise a woman in marriage, and another man will sleep with her. You will build a house and not live in it. You will plant a vineyard and not gather its grapes.
You'll promise yourself to a woman, and another man will lie with her. You'll build a house and you won't live in it. You'll plant a vineyard and you won't gather its grapes.
Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.
Your ox will be killed before your eyes and you will not eat from it. Your donkey will be violently taken from before your face and not restored to you. Your sheep will be given to your enemies, and you will have no one to rescue them.

Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to rescue them.
Your sons and daughters will be given to another people. Your eyes will look for them and fail with longing all day long, and there will be no might in your hand.
Your sons and your daughters will be handed over to another people, and your eyes will look and fail for them all day long, and there'll be no strength in your hand.
Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand:
A nation you don't know will eat the fruit of your land and everything you've worked for, and you'll be constantly oppressed and crushed.
The harvest of your land and everything you've worked for will be eaten by a nation you don't know. And you'll only be crushed and ground down all the time.
The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:
You will be driven mad by the sight of what your eyes see.
And you'll go mad at what your eyes see.
So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
The Lord will strike your knees and legs with painful sores that can’t be healed, from the soles of your feet to the top of your head.

You will become an astonishment, a proverb and a byword among all the nations where the Lord leads you.
And you'll turn into a horror, a byword and something to laugh at among all the peoples the Lord takes you to.
And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee.
You will carry much seed out into the field and gather little in, because the locust will consume it.
You'll carry plenty of seed out to the field and gather little in, because the locust will eat it.
Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.
You will plant vineyards and dress them, but you will neither drink the wine nor gather the grapes, because worms will eat them.
You'll plant vineyards and work them, and you won't drink the wine or gather the grapes, because the worms will eat them.
Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them.
You'll have olive trees throughout your land, but you won't use their oil, because the olives will drop before they ripen.
You'll have olive trees through all your borders, and you won't anoint yourself with the oil, because your olives will drop off.
Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit.
You will have sons and daughters, but you will not enjoy them, because they will go into captivity.
You'll father sons and daughters, and they won't be yours, because they'll go into captivity.
Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.
The locust will consume all your trees and the fruit of your land.
The locust will take over all your trees and the fruit of your land.
All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume.
The stranger among you will rise higher and higher above you, while you come down lower and lower.
The stranger among you will get higher and higher above you, and you'll come down lower and lower.
The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.
He will lend to you, and you will not lend to him. He will be the head, and you will be the tail.
He'll lend to you and you won't lend to him. He'll be the head and you'll be the tail.
He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.
All these curses will come on you, pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed, because you would not listen to the voice of the Lord your God or keep his commandments and rules that he commanded you.
And all these curses will come on you and chase you and catch up with you till you're wrecked — because you wouldn't listen to the voice of the Lord your God or keep his orders and his rules that he ordered you.
Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:
They will be on you for a sign and a wonder, and on your descendants forever.
And they'll be a sign and a wonder on you and on your offspring forever.
And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.
The siege and the scattering
Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joyfulness and gladness of heart for the abundance of everything, you'll serve your enemies, whom the Lord will send against you, in hunger, thirst, nakedness and want of everything. He will put a yoke of iron on your neck until he has destroyed you. The Lord will bring a nation against you from far away, from the end of the earth, as swift as an eagle flies — a nation whose language you will not understand, a fierce-looking nation that will not respect the old or show favour to the young. It will eat the fruit of your cattle and the fruit of your land until you are destroyed. It will leave you neither grain, wine nor oil, nor the increase of your cattle or flocks of your sheep, until it has destroyed you. It will besiege you within all your gates until the high fenced walls you trusted in come down throughout your land. It will besiege you in all your gates throughout the land the Lord your God has given you. In the siege and distress your enemies bring on you, you will eat the fruit of your own body — the flesh of your sons and daughters whom the Lord your God has given you. Even the most tender and delicate man among you will turn against his brother, his beloved wife and the children he has left, so that he will not give any of them any of the flesh of his children that he eats, because he has nothing left in the siege and distress your enemies bring on you within all your gates. The most tender and delicate woman among you, who would never normally put the sole of her foot on the ground, will turn against her beloved husband, her son and her daughter, and on her young one and the children she bears. For lack of everything, she will secretly eat them in the siege and distress your enemy brings on you in your towns. If you are not careful to do all the words of this law written in this book, so that you fear this glorious and awesome name, THE LORD YOUR GOD, then the Lord will hit you and your descendants with terrible, long-lasting plagues and severe, long-lasting sicknesses. He will bring on you all the diseases of Egypt that you were afraid of, and they will cling to you. The Lord will also bring on you every sickness and every plague not written in this book of the law, until you are destroyed. You will be left few in number, though you were as the stars of heaven for multitude, because you would not obey the voice of the Lord your God. As the Lord rejoiced over you to do you good and multiply you, so the Lord will rejoice over you to destroy you and bring you to nothing. You will be plucked from off the land you are going in to possess. The Lord will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other. There you will serve other gods, which neither you nor your fathers have known, even wood and stone. Among those nations you will find no ease, and the sole of your foot will have no rest. There the Lord will give you a trembling heart, failing eyes and sorrow of mind. Your life will hang in doubt before you. You will fear day and night and have no assurance of your life. In the morning you will say, "If only it were evening!" and at evening you will say, "If only it were morning!" because of the fear in your heart and what your eyes will see. The Lord will bring you back into Egypt with ships, by the way I told you that you would see no more again. There you will be sold to your enemies as slaves, and no one will buy you.
Because you wouldn't serve the Lord your God with gladness and a glad heart, for all the plenty you had — so you'll serve the ones against you that the Lord sends on you, in hunger and in thirst and in nakedness and in going short of everything. And he'll put an iron yoke on your neck till he's wrecked you. The Lord will bring a nation against you from a long way off, from the end of the earth, swooping like an eagle — a nation whose language you won't understand, a hard-faced nation that won't respect the old or show favour to the young. And they'll eat the fruit of your cattle and the fruit of your land till you're wrecked. They won't leave you grain or new wine or oil, the increase of your herds or the flocks of your sheep, till they've finished you off. And they'll lay siege to you in all your gates till your high fenced walls come down that you trusted in, right through your land. And they'll lay siege to you in all your gates, right through your land that the Lord your God has given you. And in the siege and the hard pressing that the ones against you will press you with, you'll eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and your daughters that the Lord your God has given you. The soft and very delicate man among you — his eye will be hard against his brother and against the wife he holds close and against the rest of his children that he's got left, so he won't give any of them the flesh of his children that he's eating, because he's got nothing left in the siege and the hard pressing that the ones against you will press you with in all your gates. The soft and delicate woman among you, who wouldn't put the sole of her foot to the ground for being so delicate and soft — her eye will be hard against the husband she holds close and against her son and against her daughter, and against her young ones and against her children she gives birth to. Because she'll eat them in secret for want of everything, in the siege and the hard pressing that the ones against you will press you with in your gates. If you won't watch and do all the words of this teaching written in this book, so you fear this glorious and terrifying name — the Lord your God — then the Lord will make your blows terrible, and the blows on your offspring — great blows that go on and on, and bad sicknesses that go on and on. And he'll bring back on you all the diseases of Egypt that you were frightened of, and they'll stick to you. And every sickness and every blow that isn't written in the book of this teaching, the Lord will bring on you till you're wrecked. And you'll be left few in number, when you were as many as the stars of the sky — because you wouldn't listen to the voice of the Lord your God. And the way the Lord celebrated over you to do you good and make you many, that's how the Lord will celebrate over you to wreck you and finish you off. And there you'll serve other gods that you and your fathers haven't known, wood and stone. And among those nations you won't find any rest, and the sole of your foot won't have any resting place. But the Lord will give you a shaking heart there, and eyes that fail, and a soul that's worn out. And your life will hang in front of you in doubt. And you'll be frightened night and day, and you won't be sure of your life. In the morning you'll say, If only it were evening. And in the evening you'll say, If only it were morning — for the fear in your heart that you'll be frightened with, and for what your eyes will see. And the Lord will bring you back to Egypt in ships, by the way I said to you: You'll never see it again. And there you'll be sold to the ones against you as male and female slaves, and nobody will buy you.
Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee. The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter, And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates. If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee. Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed. And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God. And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it. And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.
