Can two walk together?
Listen to this word the Lord has spoken against you, Israelites — against the whole family I brought up out of the land of Egypt: You only have I known of all the families of the earth. That is why I will call you to account for all your wrongdoing. Do two men walk together unless they have agreed to? Does a lion roar in the scrub when he has no prey? Does a young lion cry out from his den if he has taken nothing? Does a bird fall into a trap on the ground where no snare is set? Does a trap spring up from the ground when there is nothing in it? If a trumpet sounds in a town, don't the people tremble? If disaster comes to a town, hasn't the Lord done it? Surely the Lord God does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets. The lion has roared — who won't be afraid? The Lord God has spoken — who can do anything but prophesy?

The wrecked palaces
