Moab and Judah

This is what the Lord says: For three sins of Moab, and for four, I won't hold back the punishment — because he burned the bones of the king of Edom to lime. So I will send fire on Moab, and it will devour the palaces of Kirioth. Moab will die in an uproar, with shouting and the sound of the trumpet. I will cut off the judge from among her and kill all her princes with him, says the Lord. This is what the Lord says: For three sins of Judah, and for four, I won't hold back the punishment — because they rejected the law of the Lord and didn't keep his rules, and their lies led them astray, the same lies their fathers followed. So I will send fire on Judah, and it will burn up the fortresses of Jerusalem.

This is what the Lord says: For three sins of Moab, and for four, I won't turn it back — because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime. So I'll send a fire on Moab, and it'll eat up the palaces of Kerioth. And Moab will die with an uproar, with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet. And I'll cut off the judge from the middle of it and kill all its officials with him, says the Lord. This is what the Lord says: For three sins of Judah, and for four, I won't turn it back — because they've knocked back the teaching of the Lord and haven't kept his rules, and their lies have led them astray, the ones their fathers walked after. So I'll send a fire on Judah, and it'll eat up the palaces of Jerusalem.

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime: But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kirioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet: And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked: But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

Israel

This is what the Lord says: For three sins of Israel, and for four, I won't hold back the punishment — because they sell the righteous for silver and the poor for a pair of sandals. They pant after the dust of the earth on the heads of the poor, and turn aside the way of the humble. A man and his father go in to the same young woman, profaning my holy name. They stretch out beside every altar on clothes taken in pledge. In the house of their god they drink wine taken as fines. Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, tall as the cedars and strong as the oaks. I destroyed his fruit above and his roots below. And I brought you up out of the land of Egypt and led you forty years through the wilderness, to take possession of the land of the Amorite. I raised up prophets from among your sons and Nazarites from among your young men. Isn't that so, Israelites? says the Lord. But you gave the Nazarites wine to drink, and you ordered the prophets: Do not prophesy. Look, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves. The swift man won't get away, the strong man won't hold his strength, and the warrior won't save his life. The archer won't stand his ground, the fast runner won't escape, and the horseman won't save himself. Even the bravest of the fighting men will flee away naked on that day, says the Lord.

This is what the Lord says: For three sins of Israel, and for four, I won't turn it back — because they've sold the righteous for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals. They pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor and push the way of the humble aside. And a man and his father go in to the same young woman, to make my holy name common. And they lie down beside every altar on clothes taken as pledges. And in the house of their god they drink the wine of the ones they've fined. But I wrecked the Amorite in front of them, whose height was like the height of the cedars and who was strong as the oaks. And I wrecked his fruit above and his roots below. And I brought you up out of the land of Egypt and led you forty years through the wilderness, to own the land of the Amorite. And I raised up prophets from your sons and Nazirites from your young men. Isn't that so, you people of Israel? says the Lord. But you gave the Nazirites wine to drink and ordered the prophets: Don't prophesy. Look — I'm pressed under you the way a cart is pressed that's full of sheaves. So the fast man won't get away, and the strong man won't hold onto his strength, and the mighty man won't save his own life. And the one who handles the bow won't stand, and the fast man on his feet won't get away, and the one riding the horse won't save his life. And the bravest of the strong men will run away naked on that day, says the Lord.

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes; That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name: And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god. Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath. Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite. And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD. But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not. Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves. Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself: Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself. And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the LORD.
