A man named Simon had previously practised sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming he was someone great. Everyone, from the least to the greatest, paid attention to Simon, saying, "This man is the great power of God." They paid attention to him because he'd taken them in with sorceries a long time. When they believed Philip preaching the things about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptised, both men and women. Then Simon himself believed too. And when he was baptised, he stayed on with Philip and was amazed, looking at the miracles and signs that were done. When the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. When Peter and John came down, they prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. (Because up till then he hadn't fallen on any of them. Only they were baptised in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. When Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money, saying, "Give me this power too, so that anyone I lay hands on may receive the Holy Spirit." Peter told him, "Your money perish with you, because you thought the gift of God could be bought with money. You have neither part nor lot in this matter, because your heart is not right before God. Repent of this wickedness and pray to God. Perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven. I can see you're poisoned by bitterness and trapped in wrongdoing. Then Simon answered: Pray to the Lord for me, so none of the things you've spoken come on me. They, when they'd testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity. Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the LORD for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me. And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

The place of the scripture he read was this: He was led as a sheep to the slaughter. And like a lamb silent before its shearer, that's how he didn't open his mouth. In his low state his judgment was taken away. And who'll tell about his generation? Because his life is taken from the earth. The officer answered Philip: I ask you, who does the prophet speak this of? Of himself or of some other man? Philip opened his mouth and, beginning from that same scripture, preached Jesus to him. As they travelled along, they came to some water. The eunuch said, "Look, here's water. What prevents me from being baptised?" Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." He answered, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." He commanded the chariot to stop. Philip and the eunuch both went down into the water, and Philip baptised him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away. The eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing. But Philip was found at Azotus. And going through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.
