Jehoiakim and Jehoiachin
During Jehoiakim's reign, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon invaded, and Jehoiakim became his servant for three years. Then he turned against him and rebelled. The Lord sent bands of Chaldeans, Syrians, Moabites and Ammonites against Jehoiakim. He sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word the Lord had spoken through his servants the prophets. Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king and reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. He did what was evil in the Lord's sight, just as Jehoiakim had done. Because of the Lord's anger, Jerusalem and Judah came to this point until he cast them out of his presence. Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
