Ahaziah's messengers turned back
After Ahab died, Moab rebelled against Israel. Ahaziah fell through the lattice of his upstairs room in Samaria and was badly injured. He sent messengers, saying: Go and ask Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I'll recover from this injury. But the angel of the Lord said to Elijah the Tishbite: Get up and meet the king of Samaria's messengers. Ask them: Is there no God in Israel, that you're off to consult Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron? So this is what the Lord says: You won't get out of that bed you've climbed into. You will certainly die. Then Elijah left. When the messengers returned to Ahaziah, he asked them: Why are you back already? They answered: A man met us and told us: Go back to the king who sent you and tell him, This is what the Lord says: Is there no God in Israel, that you're sending men to consult Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron? Because of this, you won't get out of the bed you've climbed into. You will certainly die. The king asked: What sort of man was he — the one who met you and told you this? They replied: He was a hairy man with a leather belt around his waist. The king said: That's Elijah the Tishbite.
Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab. And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper room that was in Samaria, and was sick. And he sent messengers and said to them: Go, ask of Baal-Zebub the god of Ekron whether I'll get over this sickness. But the angel of the Lord said to Elijah the Tishbite: Get up, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and say to them: Is it because there isn't a God in Israel that you go to ask of Baal-Zebub the god of Ekron? So this is what the Lord says. You won't come down off that bed you've gone up on, but you'll definitely die. And Elijah went. And when the messengers turned back to him, he said to them: Why have you turned back? And they said to him: A man came up to meet us and said to us: Go, turn back to the king who sent you and say to him: This is what the Lord says. Is it because there isn't a God in Israel that you send to ask of Baal-Zebub the god of Ekron? So you won't come down off that bed you've gone up on, but you'll definitely die. And he said to them: What was the man like who came up to meet you and told you these words? And they answered him: He was a hairy man, with a belt of leather strapped round his waist. And he said: It's Elijah the Tishbite.
Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab. And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease. But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron? Now therefore thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed. And when the messengers turned back unto him, he said unto them, Why are ye now turned back? And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And he said unto them, What manner of man was he which came up to meet you, and told you these words? And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.

Fire from heaven
Then the king sent a commander with fifty men to Elijah. He found Elijah sitting on top of a hill and said: Man of God, the king says, Come down. Elijah answered the commander: If I really am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men. Fire came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty. The king sent another commander with fifty men. He said to Elijah: Man of God, this is what the king says: Come down at once. Elijah answered: If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men. The fire of God came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty. The king sent a third commander with fifty men. This one climbed up, fell on his knees before Elijah and pleaded: Man of God, please value my life and the lives of these fifty servants of yours. Fire has already come down from heaven and consumed the first two commanders and their fifty men. But please spare my life. The angel of the Lord told Elijah: Go down with him. Don't be afraid of him. So Elijah got up and went down with him to the king. Elijah told the king: This is what the Lord says: You sent messengers to consult Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, as though there were no God in Israel to consult. Because you've done that, you won't get out of the bed you've climbed into. You will certainly die. So Ahaziah died, just as the Lord had said through Elijah. Because Ahaziah had no son, Jehoram became king in his place, in the second year of Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah. The rest of Ahaziah's acts are recorded in the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
Then the king sent a captain of fifty with his fifty to him. And he went up to him. And there he was, sitting on the top of a hill. And he spoke to him: Man of God, the king has said: Come down. And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty: If I'm a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven and eat you up and your fifty. And fire came down from heaven and ate him up and his fifty. He sent another captain of fifty with his fifty to him again. And he answered and said to him: Man of God, this is what the king has said. Come down quickly. And Elijah answered them: If I'm a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven and eat you up and your fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven and ate him up and his fifty. And he sent a third captain of fifty with his fifty again. And the third captain of fifty went up and came and fell on his knees in front of Elijah and pleaded with him: Man of God, let my life and the life of these fifty servants of yours be precious in your sight, please. Look — fire came down from heaven and burnt up the two captains of the first fifties with their fifties. So let my life be precious in your sight now. And the angel of the Lord said to Elijah: Go down with him. Don't be frightened of him. And he got up and went down with him to the king. And he said to him: This is what the Lord says. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight. Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in thy sight. And the angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.
