Manasseh's evil
Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. And he watched for signs and used magic and sorcery, and dealt with a medium and with wizards. He did abundant evil in the Lord's sight, to make him angry. He set a carved image, the idol he'd made, in the temple of God, that God had said to David and to Solomon his son: In this house and in Jerusalem, that I've chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I'll put my name forever. I won't move the foot of Israel any more out of the land I've set out for your fathers — only if they'll watch and do everything I've ordered them, according to the whole teaching and the rules and the orders by the hand of Moses. He repaired the altar of the Lord and sacrificed peace offerings and thank offerings on it, and ordered Judah to serve the Lord God of Israel. But the people still sacrificed in the worship shrines, only to the Lord their God.
