Solomon asks for wisdom
Solomon son of David was firmly established in his kingdom. The Lord his God was with him and made him very powerful. Then Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges and to every leader in all Israel, the family heads. Solomon and the whole assembly went up to the high place at Gibeon, because God's tent of meeting was there — the one Moses, the Lord's servant, had made in the wilderness. But David had brought up the ark of God from Kirjathjearim to the place David had prepared for it. Because he'd pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem. The bronze altar made by Bezaleel son of Uri, son of Hur, stood before the Lord's tent, and Solomon and the assembly went to it. Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before the Lord, that was at the tent of meeting, and offered a thousand burnt offerings on it. That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him: Ask for whatever you want me to give you. Solomon said to God: You showed great mercy to my father David, and you've made me king in his place. Now, Lord God, let your promise to my father David come true. You've made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth. Give me wisdom and knowledge so I can lead these people properly. Who could judge this great people of yours without it? God said to Solomon: Because this was in your heart — and you didn't ask for riches, wealth, honour, the lives of your enemies, or even a long life, but asked for wisdom and knowledge so you could judge my people, over whom I've made you king — wisdom and knowledge are yours. And I'll also give you riches, wealth and honour greater than any king before you had, or any after you will have.

And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king: Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

The king's traders got them from Kue at a price. They brought up and brought out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty. And that's how they brought them out for all the kings of the Hittites and for the kings of Syria, by their means.
