Naboth's vineyard
After these things, Naboth the Jezreelite owned a vineyard in Jezreel beside the palace of Ahab king of Samaria. Ahab said to Naboth: Give me your vineyard for a vegetable garden, since it's right beside my house. I'll give you a better vineyard in exchange, or if you'd rather, I'll pay you what it's worth. Naboth answered Ahab: The Lord forbid that I should give you the inheritance of my fathers. Ahab went home sullen and angry because Naboth the Jezreelite had said: I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers. He lay on his bed, turned his face to the wall and refused to eat. His wife Jezebel came in and asked: What's got you so miserable that you won't even eat? He told her: I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite and said, Sell me your vineyard, or if you'd rather, I'll give you another vineyard for it. But he said, I won't give you my vineyard. Jezebel said: Aren't you the king of Israel? Get up, have something to eat and cheer up. I'll get you Naboth the Jezreelite's vineyard. She wrote letters in Ahab's name, sealed them with his seal and sent them to the elders and nobles who lived in Naboth's city. In the letters she wrote: Proclaim a fast and give Naboth a prominent seat among the people. Seat two worthless men opposite him and have them testify: You cursed God and the king. Then take Naboth outside and stone him to death. The men of Naboth's city — its elders and nobles — did exactly what Jezebel had ordered in the letters she sent them. And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.

And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.

And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.
Elijah's word against Ahab
Then the Lord spoke to Elijah the Tishbite: Get up and go down to meet Ahab king of Israel in Samaria. He is in Naboth's vineyard, where he has gone to take possession of it. Tell him: This is what the Lord says. Have you murdered a man and taken his property as well? Then tell him: This is what the Lord says. In the place where dogs licked Naboth's blood, dogs will lick your blood — yes, yours. Ahab said to Elijah: So you've found me, my enemy. Elijah answered: I've found you, because you've sold yourself to do evil in the Lord's sight. I am bringing disaster on you. I will sweep away your descendants and cut off from Ahab every male in Israel, both bond and free. I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and the house of Baasha son of Ahijah, because you have provoked me to anger and caused Israel to sin. The Lord also spoke about Jezebel: Dogs will eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. Dogs will eat those belonging to Ahab who die in the city, and the birds of the air will eat those who die in the fields. There was no one quite like Ahab, who sold himself to do evil in the Lord's sight, egged on by his wife Jezebel. He behaved abominably by chasing after idols, just as the Amorites had done, whom the Lord drove out before the Israelites. When Ahab heard these words, he tore his clothes, put coarse mourning cloth on his body and fasted. He slept in coarse mourning cloth and went about subdued. Then the Lord spoke to Elijah the Tishbite: Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself, I will not bring the disaster during his lifetime. I will bring it on his house in his son's days.
And the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite: Get up, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, who's in Samaria. Look — he's in the vineyard of Naboth, where he's gone down to take it over. And you'll speak to him: This is what the Lord says. Have you killed and taken over too? And you'll speak to him: This is what the Lord says. In the place where the dogs licked the blood of Naboth, the dogs will lick your blood, even yours. And Ahab said to Elijah: Have you found me, you against me? Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, And will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin. And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat. But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up. And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel. And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly. And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son’s days will I bring the evil upon his house.

Ahab said to Elijah: So you've found me, my enemy. Elijah answered: I've found you, because you've sold yourself to do evil in the Lord's sight.
And Ahab said to Elijah: Have you found me, you against me? And he answered: I've found you, because you've sold yourself to do evil in the sight of the Lord.
And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.
I am bringing disaster on you. I will sweep away your descendants and cut off from Ahab every male in Israel, both bond and free.
Look — I'll bring trouble on you and will take away what's left of you, and will cut off from Ahab every male, both shut up and left in Israel.
Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,
I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and the house of Baasha son of Ahijah, because you have provoked me to anger and caused Israel to sin.
And I'll make your house like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah, for the anger you've stirred me to and made Israel sin.

The Lord also spoke about Jezebel: Dogs will eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.
And of Jezebel too the Lord spoke: The dogs will eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.
And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.
Dogs will eat those belonging to Ahab who die in the city, and the birds of the air will eat those who die in the fields.
The dogs will eat the ones of Ahab who die in the town. And the birds of the sky will eat the ones who die in the fields.
Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.
