To the angel of the church at Ephesus write: These are the words of the one who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands. I know your works, and your labour, and your patience, and that you can't put up with evil men. You have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and you have found them liars. You have borne up and been patient, and you have worked hard for my name and haven't grown weary. But I have this against you: you have left your first love. So remember how far you have fallen, and repent, and do the first works. Or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand out of its place, unless you repent. But you have this in your favour: you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate. Anyone who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. But I have a few things against you, because you have people there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balac to put a stumbling block before the Israelites — to eat things sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality. In the same way you also have people who hold the teaching of the Nicolaitanes, which I hate. So repent. Or else I will come to you quickly and fight against them with the sword of my mouth. Anyone who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, which nobody knows except the one who receives it. And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like a flame of fire and whose feet are like fine bronze. I know your works, and your love, and your service, and your faith, and your patience — and that your last works are more than the first. But I have a few things against you, because you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and teaches and seduces my servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. Look — I will throw her onto a bed, and those who commit adultery with her into great trouble, unless they repent of what they have done. And I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am the one who searches minds and hearts, and I will give each one of you according to your works. But to the rest of you in Thyatira, who don't hold this teaching and haven't known what they call the deep things of Satan — I won't put any other burden on you. Only hold fast to what you have until I come. And the one who overcomes and keeps my works to the end — I will give him authority over the nations. And he will rule them with a rod of iron, and they will be broken to pieces like a potter's vessels, just as I have received authority from my Father. And I will give him the morning star. Anyone who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
