O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongs — God, to whom vengeance belongs — show yourself. Lift yourself up, judge of the earth. Give back to the proud what they deserve. How long will the wicked win?

O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongs — God, to whom vengeance belongs — show yourself. Lift yourself up, judge of the earth. Give back to the proud what they deserve. LORD, how long will the wicked — how long will the wicked triumph? How long will they pour out arrogant words? How long will all the evildoers boast? They crush your people, Lord, and afflict your inheritance. They kill the widow and the stranger, and murder orphans. And they say: The LORD doesn't see it. The God of Jacob takes no notice. Understand it, you fools among the people. And you fools, when will you be wise? He who planted the ear — won't he hear? He who formed the eye — won't he see? He who chastises the nations — won't he correct? He who teaches man knowledge — won't he know? The LORD knows the thoughts of man, that they're only a breath. Blessed is the man you discipline, LORD, and teach from your law — So you can give him rest from the days of trouble, till a pit is dug for the wicked. The LORD will not cast off his people or abandon his inheritance. Judgment will return to righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it. Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of wrongdoing? Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul would soon have lived in silence. When I said, My foot is slipping, your mercy, Lord, sustained me. When I had many worries inside me, your comforts made my soul glad. Will the throne of ruin have anything to do with you — the one that works up trouble by law? They gather together against the soul of the righteous and hold innocent blood guilty. But the LORD is my defence, and my God is the rock of my refuge. And he'll bring their own wrongdoing back on them and cut them off in their own wickedness. The LORD our God will cut them off.

Lord God, you settle up. God who settles up, shine out. Lift yourself up, judge of the earth. Give back to the proud what they deserve. Lord, how long will the wicked — how long will the wicked win? How long will they pour out hard words and talk big, all the workers of wrong? They crush your people, Lord, and afflict your inheritance. They kill the widow and the stranger, and cut down the orphans. And they say: The Lord doesn't see it. The God of Jacob takes no notice. Understand it, you thick ones among the people. And you fools, when will you be wise? The one who planted the ear — won't he hear? The one who shaped the eye — won't he see? The one who sets the nations straight — won't he pull you up? The one who teaches man knowledge — won't he know? The Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they're only a breath. Happy is the man you set straight, Lord, and teach out of your teaching — so you can give him rest from the bad days, till a pit is dug for the wicked. Because the Lord won't throw off his people or leave his inheritance. But judgment will come back to righteousness, and all the upright in heart will go after it. Who'll get up for me against the evil men? Who'll stand up for me against the workers of wrong? Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul would have gone quiet in the grave. When I said, My foot is slipping, your faithful love, Lord, held me up. When I had plenty of worries inside me, your comforts made my soul glad. Will the throne of ruin have anything to do with you — the one that works up trouble by law? They gather together against the soul of the righteous and hold innocent blood guilty. But the Lord is my high place, and my God is the rock I take shelter in. And he'll bring their own wrongdoing back on them and cut them off in their own wickedness. The Lord our God will cut them off.

O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself. Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud. LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph? How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage. They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless. Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it. Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise? He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see? He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know? The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity. Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law; That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked. For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance. But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it. Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence. When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up. In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul. Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law? They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood. But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge. And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.
