The nations have come in

God, the nations have come into your inheritance. They've made your holy temple filthy. They've made Jerusalem a heap of rubble. They've given the dead bodies of your servants as food to the birds of heaven, the flesh of your faithful ones to the animals of the earth. They've poured out their blood like water round Jerusalem, and nobody buried them. We're an insult to our neighbours, something those round us laugh at and sneer at. How long, Lord? Will you be angry forever? Will your jealousy burn like fire? Pour out your fury on the nations that don't know you, and on the kingdoms that haven't called on your name. For they've devoured Jacob and laid his dwelling place waste. Don't hold the wrongs of our fathers against us. Let your mercies come to meet us quickly, because we're brought very low. Help us, God of our salvation, for the glory of your name. Deliver us and cover over our sins, for your name's sake. Why should the nations say: Where's their God? Let it be known among the nations before our eyes — the vengeance for the blood of your servants that's been poured out. Let the groaning of the prisoner come before you. According to the greatness of your power, keep alive those set apart for death. And pay our neighbours back seven times into their laps for the insult they've insulted you with, Lord. So we're your people and the sheep of your pasture, and we'll thank you forever. We'll declare your praise from one generation to the next.

Help us, God of our salvation, for the glory of your name. Get us out and cover over our sins, for your name's sake. Why should the nations say: Where's their God? Let it be known among the nations in front of our eyes — the settling up for the blood of your servants that's been poured out. Let the groaning of the prisoner come in front of you. According to the greatness of your power, keep alive the ones set apart for death. And pay our neighbours back seven times into their laps for the insult they've insulted you with, Master. So we're your people and the sheep of your pasture, and we'll thank you forever. We'll tell out your praise from one generation to the next.

O GOD, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps. The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth. Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them. We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us. How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire? Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name. For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place. O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low. Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake. Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed. Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die; And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord. So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.
