What's a man?

Blessed be the LORD my rock, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle — My goodness and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer, my shield and the one I trust in, who subdues my people under me. Lord, what's a man, that you take any notice of him? Or the son of man, that you think about him? Man is like a breath. His days are like a shadow going past. Bend your heavens, Lord, and come down. Touch the hills and they'll smoke. Throw the lightning and scatter them. Shoot out your arrows and routed them. Send your hand from above; rid me and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children. Whose mouth speaks empty things and whose right hand is a right hand of lies. I'll sing you a new song, God. I'll sing praises to you on a ten-stringed harp. He's the one who gives salvation to kings, who gets David his servant out from the hurtful sword. Rid me and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaks empty words and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood — So our sons can be like plants grown up in their youth, and our daughters like corner pillars carved for a palace. So our storehouses are full, giving every kind of supply, and our flocks bring out thousands and ten thousands in our fields. so our oxen may be strong for labour, with no breaking in or going out, and no complaining in our streets. Happy is the people that's like that. Happy is the people whose God is the LORD.

Blessed be the Lord my rock, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle — my faithful love and my fortress, my high tower and the one who gets me out, my shield and the one I take shelter in, who brings my people down under me. Lord, what's a man, that you take any notice of him? Or the son of man, that you think about him? Man is like a breath. His days are like a shadow going past. Bend your heavens, Lord, and come down. Touch the hills and they'll smoke. Throw the lightning and scatter them. Shoot out your arrows and put them in a spin. Send your hand from above. Pull me out and get me out of great waters, out of the hand of strangers — whose mouth speaks empty things and whose right hand is a right hand of lies. I'll sing you a new song, God. I'll sing praises to you on a ten-stringed harp. He's the one who gives salvation to kings, who gets David his servant out from the hurtful sword. Pull me out and get me out of the hand of strangers, whose mouth speaks empty things and whose right hand is a right hand of lies — so our sons can be like plants grown up in their youth, and our daughters like corner pillars carved for a palace. So our storehouses are full, giving every kind of supply, and our flocks bring out thousands and ten thousands in our fields. So our cattle carry a good load, with no breaking in or going out, and no crying in our streets. Happy is the people that's like that. Happy is the people whose God is the Lord.

Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me. LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him! Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away. Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke. Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them. Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children; Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood. I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee. It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword. Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood: That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace: That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets: That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets. Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.
