The Lord is in his holy temple

I trust in the LORD. How can you say to my soul, ‘Flee like a bird to your mountain’ ? The wicked bend their bow and make their arrow ready on the string, so they can secretly shoot at the upright in heart. If the foundations are pulled down, what can the righteous do? The LORD is in his holy temple. The LORD's throne is in heaven. His eyes look, his eyelids test the people. The LORD tests the righteous. But his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence. He'll rain traps on the wicked — fire and sulphur and a scorching wind will be the share in their cup. Because the LORD is righteous. He loves righteous things. The upright will see his face.

I take shelter in the Lord. So how can you say to my soul: Fly off to your mountain like a bird? Because look — the wicked bend the bow. They've got their arrow ready on the string, to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart. If the foundations are pulled down, what can the righteous do? The Lord is in his holy temple. The Lord's throne is in heaven. His eyes look, his eyelids test the sons of men. The Lord tests the righteous. But his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence. He'll rain traps on the wicked — fire and sulphur and a scorching wind will be the share in their cup. Because the Lord is righteous. He loves righteous things. The upright will see his face.

In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD’s throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.
