The daughters of Zelophehad
Then the daughters of Zelophehad came forward. He was the son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, from the families of Manasseh son of Joseph. His daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah. They stood before Moses, Eleazar the priest, the princes and the whole community at the door of the tent of meeting. 'Our father died in the wilderness. He was not among Korah's company who gathered against the Lord; he died for his own sin, and he had no sons.' 'Why should our father's name disappear from his family just because he had no son? Give us a possession among our father's brothers.' Moses brought their case before the Lord. The Lord spoke to Moses: 'The daughters of Zelophehad are right. You must give them a possession of inheritance among their father's brothers and pass their father's inheritance to them.' 'Tell the Israelites: If a man dies and has no son, pass his inheritance to his daughter.' If he has no daughter, then you will give his inheritance to his brothers. If he has no brothers, then you will give his inheritance to his father's brothers. If his father has no brothers, then you will give his inheritance to his closest relative of his family, and he will own it. And it will be a rule of judgment for the Israelites, as the Lord commanded Moses.
Then the daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher son of Gilead son of Makir son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh son of Joseph, came near. And these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah and Hoglah and Milkah and Tirzah. And they stood in front of Moses and in front of Eleazar the priest and in front of the leaders and all the gathering, at the door of the tent of meeting: Our father died in the wilderness, and he wasn't in the crowd of the ones who gathered together against the Lord in the crowd of Korah. But he died in his own sin, and he had no sons. Why should the name of our father be taken away from his family because he's got no son? Give us an inheritance among our father's brothers. And Moses brought their case in front of the Lord. And the Lord spoke to Moses: The daughters of Zelophehad speak right. You'll definitely give them an inheritance to own among their father's brothers. And you'll pass the inheritance of their father to them. And you'll speak to the people of Israel: If a man dies and has no son, then you'll pass his inheritance to his daughter. And if he has no daughter, then you'll give his inheritance to his brothers. And if he has no brothers, then you'll give his inheritance to his father's brothers. And if his father has no brothers, then you'll give his inheritance to his closest relative of his family, and he'll own it. And it'll be a rule of judgment for the people of Israel, the way the Lord ordered Moses.
Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah. And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying, Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons. Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father. And Moses brought their cause before the LORD. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them. And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter. And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren. And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father’s brethren. And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as the LORD commanded Moses.

Joshua set over the people
The Lord said to Moses, 'Go up this Mount Abarim and see the land I have given the Israelites.' 'After you have seen it, you too will be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was gathered.' For in the desert of Zin, when the community quarrelled, you rebelled against my command instead of honouring me as holy before their eyes at the water.' These are the waters of Meribah in Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin. Moses spoke to the Lord: 'Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the community,' 'who can go out before them and come in before them, who can lead them out and bring them in, so the Lord's community will not be like sheep without a shepherd.' The Lord said to Moses, 'Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay your hand on him.' 'Set him before Eleazar the priest and before the whole community, and give him a charge in their eyes.' 'Put some of your honour on him, so the whole community of Israel will obey him.' 'He will stand before Eleazar the priest, who will ask counsel for him according to the judgment of Urim before the Lord. At his word they will go out and at his word they will come in — he and all the Israelites with him, the whole community.' Moses did as the Lord commanded. He took Joshua and set him before Eleazar the priest and before the whole community. He laid his hands on him and gave him a charge, as the Lord commanded through Moses.
And the Lord said to Moses: Go up this mountain of Abarim and see the land I've given the people of Israel. And when you've seen it, you'll be gathered to your people too, the way Aaron your brother was gathered. Because you rebelled against my order in the wilderness of Zin, when the gathering argued, when you should have made me holy at the water in front of their eyes. That's the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin. And Moses spoke to the Lord: Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the gathering, who'll go out in front of them and go in in front of them, and who'll lead them out and bring them in — so the gathering of the Lord isn't like sheep with no shepherd. And the Lord said to Moses: Take Joshua son of Nun, a man with the spirit in him, and lay your hand on him. And set him in front of Eleazar the priest and in front of the whole gathering, and give him his orders in their sight. And you'll put some of your honour on him, so the whole gathering of the people of Israel will listen. And he'll stand in front of Eleazar the priest, who'll ask for him by the judgment of the Urim in front of the Lord. At his word they'll go out, and at his word they'll come in, he and all the people of Israel with him, the whole gathering. And Moses did what the Lord ordered him. And he took Joshua and set him in front of Eleazar the priest and in front of the whole gathering. And he laid his hands on him and gave him his orders, the way the Lord ordered through Moses.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel. And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered. For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin. And Moses spake unto the LORD, saying, Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation, Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd. And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him; And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight. And thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient. And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation. And Moses did as the LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation: And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.

who'll go out in front of them and go in in front of them, and who'll lead them out and bring them in — so the gathering of the Lord isn't like sheep with no shepherd.
Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd.
