When a soul is guilty

If anyone sins and hears the voice of swearing and is a witness, whether he's seen or known it — if he doesn't tell it, then he will carry his wrongdoing. Or if anyone touches anything unclean, whether the body of an unclean animal or the body of unclean cattle or the body of unclean crawling things, and it's hidden from him — he will be unclean too, and guilty. Or if he touches the impurity of a man, whatever impurity he's unclean with, and it's hidden from him — when he knows about it, he will be guilty. Or if anyone swears, saying with his lips that he will do harm or do good, whatever a man says with an oath, and it's hidden from him — when he knows about it, then he will be guilty in one of these. When he's guilty in one of these things, he will own up that he's sinned in that thing. He will bring his guilt offering to the Lord for his sin he's sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a young goat, for a sin offering. And the priest will make atonement for him about his sin. If he can't afford a lamb, then he will bring for his guilt for what he's sinned two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the Lord — one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. He will bring them to the priest, who'll offer the one for the sin offering first, and wring its head from its neck but not divide it. He will sprinkle some of the blood of the sin offering on the side of the altar, and the rest of the blood will be drained out at the bottom of the altar. It is a sin offering. He will offer the second for a burnt offering, in the proper way. And the priest will make atonement for him about his sin he's sinned, and it will be forgiven him. But if he can't afford two turtledoves or two young pigeons, then the one who sinned will bring for his offering a tenth of a bushel of fine flour for a sin offering. He must not put oil on it or put any incense on it, because it's a sin offering. Then he will bring it to the priest, and the priest will take a handful of it, a reminder of it, and burn it on the altar, on the offerings made by fire to the Lord. It is a sin offering. The priest will make atonement for him about his sin he's sinned in one of these, and it will be forgiven him. And what's left will be the priest's, like the grain offering.

And if a soul sins and hears the voice of swearing and is a witness, whether he's seen or known it — if he doesn't tell it, then he'll carry his wrongdoing. Or if a soul touches anything unclean, whether the body of an unclean animal or the body of unclean cattle or the body of unclean crawling things, and it's hidden from him — he'll be unclean too, and guilty. Or if he touches the uncleanness of a man, whatever uncleanness he's unclean with, and it's hidden from him — when he knows about it, he'll be guilty. Or if a soul swears, saying with his lips that he'll do harm or do good, whatever a man says with an oath, and it's hidden from him — when he knows about it, then he'll be guilty in one of these. And when he's guilty in one of these things, he'll own up that he's sinned in that thing. And he'll bring his guilt offering to the Lord for his sin he's sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a young goat, for a sin offering. And the priest will cover it over for him about his sin. And if he can't afford a lamb, then he'll bring for his guilt for what he's sinned two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the Lord — one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness, whether he hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity. Or if a soul touch any unclean thing, whether it be a carcase of an unclean beast, or a carcase of unclean cattle, or the carcase of unclean creeping things, and if it be hidden from him; he also shall be unclean, and guilty. Or if he touch the uncleanness of man, whatsoever uncleanness it be that a man shall be defiled withal, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty. Or if a soul swear, pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good, whatsoever it be that a man shall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these. And it shall be, when he shall be guilty in one of these things, that he shall confess that he hath sinned in that thing: And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD for his sin which he hath sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a kid of the goats, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin. And if he be not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring for his trespass, which he hath committed, two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, unto the LORD; one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering. And he shall offer the second for a burnt offering, according to the manner: and the priest shall make an atonement for him for his sin which he hath sinned, and it shall be forgiven him. But if he be not able to bring two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, then he that sinned shall bring for his offering the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering; he shall put no oil upon it, neither shall he put any frankincense thereon: for it is a sin offering. Then shall he bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take his handful of it, even a memorial thereof, and burn it on the altar, according to the offerings made by fire unto the LORD: it is a sin offering. And the priest shall make an atonement for him as touching his sin that he hath sinned in one of these, and it shall be forgiven him: and the remnant shall be the priest’s, as a meat offering.

The guilt offering

The Lord spoke to Moses: If anyone breaks faith and sins by mistake in the holy things of the Lord, then he will bring for his guilt to the Lord a ram without defect out of the flock, worth what you set in silver shekels by the shekel of the sanctuary, for a guilt offering. He will make good for the harm he's done in the holy thing, and add a fifth to it and give it to the priest. And the priest will make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering, and it will be forgiven him. If anyone sins and does something against any of the commandments of the Lord about things that shouldn't be done — though he didn't know it, he's still guilty and will carry his wrongdoing. He will bring a ram without defect out of the flock, worth what you set, for a guilt offering, to the priest. And the priest will make atonement for him about what he didn't know he'd done wrong, and it will be forgiven him. It is a guilt offering. He's definitely done wrong before the Lord.

And the Lord spoke to Moses: If a soul breaks faith and sins by mistake in the holy things of the Lord, then he'll bring for his guilt to the Lord a ram without fault out of the flock, worth what you set in silver shekels by the shekel of the holy place, for a guilt offering. And he'll make good for the harm he's done in the holy thing, and add a fifth to it and give it to the priest. And the priest will cover it over for him with the ram of the guilt offering, and it'll be forgiven him. And if a soul sins and does something against any of the orders of the Lord about things that shouldn't be done — though he didn't know it, he's still guilty and will carry his wrongdoing. And he'll bring a ram without fault out of the flock, worth what you set, for a guilt offering, to the priest. And the priest will cover it over for him about what he didn't know he'd done wrong, and it'll be forgiven him. It's a guilt offering. He's definitely done wrong in front of the Lord.

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, If a soul commit a trespass, and sin through ignorance, in the holy things of the LORD; then he shall bring for his trespass unto the LORD a ram without blemish out of the flocks, with thy estimation by shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary, for a trespass offering: And he shall make amends for the harm that he hath done in the holy thing, and shall add the fifth part thereto, and give it unto the priest: and the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering, and it shall be forgiven him. And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the LORD; though he wist it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity. And he shall bring a ram without blemish out of the flock, with thy estimation, for a trespass offering, unto the priest: and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his ignorance wherein he erred and wist it not, and it shall be forgiven him. It is a trespass offering: he hath certainly trespassed against the LORD.
