The word about the Philistines

The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet about the Philistines, before Pharaoh struck Gaza: This is what the LORD says. Look: waters are coming up out of the north and turning into a flooding torrent. They'll flood the land and everything in it, the city and the people living in it. And every man will cry out, and everyone living in the land will howl — At the noise of the pounding hooves of his strong horses, at the rattle of his chariots and the rumble of his wheels. Fathers won't look back for their children, because their hands have gone limp, because of the day that is coming to destroy all the Philistines, and to cut off from Tyrus and Zidon every helper who remains. The LORD will destroy the Philistines, the survivors of the country of Caphtor. Baldness has come on Gaza. Ashkelon is cut off with the survivors of their valley. How long will you cut yourself? Sword of the LORD, how long till you're quiet? Get back into your sheath. Rest and be still. How can it be quiet, when the LORD has given it an order? Against Ashkelon and against the sea coast — that's where he's set it.

The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet about the Philistines, before Pharaoh struck Gaza: This is what the Lord says. Look — waters are coming up out of the north and turning into a flooding torrent. They'll flood the land and everything in it, the town and the people living in it. And every man will cry out, and everyone living in the land will howl — at the noise of the pounding hooves of his strong horses, at the rattle of his chariots and the rumble of his wheels. Fathers won't look back for their children, because their hands have gone limp, because of the day coming to finish off all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper left. Because the Lord is finishing off the Philistines, the remnant from the coast of Caphtor. Baldness has come on Gaza. Ashkelon is cut off with what's left of their valley. How long will you cut yourself? Sword of the Lord, how long till you're quiet? Get back into your sheath. Rest and be still. How can it be quiet, when the Lord has given it an order? Against Ashkelon and against the sea coast — that's where he's set it.

The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Philistines, before that Pharaoh smote Gaza. Thus saith the LORD; Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall be an overflowing flood, and shall overflow the land, and all that is therein; the city, and them that dwell therein: then the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl. At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong horses, at the rushing of his chariots, and at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers shall not look back to their children for feebleness of hands; Because of the day that cometh to spoil all the Philistines, and to cut off from Tyrus and Zidon every helper that remaineth: for the LORD will spoil the Philistines, the remnant of the country of Caphtor. Baldness is come upon Gaza; Ashkelon is cut off with the remnant of their valley: how long wilt thou cut thyself? O thou sword of the LORD, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? put up thyself into thy scabbard, rest, and be still. How can it be quiet, seeing the LORD hath given it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea shore? there hath he appointed it.
