The envoys from Babylon
At that time Merodachbaladan son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, because he had heard that he had been sick and recovered. Hezekiah was glad of them and showed them the house of his precious things — the silver, the gold, the spices, the precious ointment, all the house of his armour and everything found in his treasures. There was nothing in his house or in all his dominion that Hezekiah didn't show them. Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah and said: What did those men say, and where did they come from? And Hezekiah said: They came to me from a far country, from Babylon. And he said: What did they see in your house? And Hezekiah said: They saw everything in my house. There's nothing in my storerooms I didn't show them. Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah: Listen to the word of the LORD Almighty. ‘the days are coming when everything in your house, and everything your fathers have stored up until this day, will be carried to Babylon. Nothing will be left,’ says the LORD. ‘Some of your sons who come from you, whom you will father, will be taken away, and they will be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’ Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, ‘The word of the LORD you have spoken is good.’ He also said, ‘For there will be peace and truth in my days.’
