Against the mountains of Israel
And the LORD spoke to me: Son of man, set your face towards the mountains of Israel and prophesy against them. And say: You mountains of Israel, listen to the word of the Lord GOD. This is what the Lord GOD says to the mountains and the hills, to the gullies and the valleys: Look: I'll bring a sword on you, and I'll destroy your worship shrines. Your altars will be left deserted and your incense stands smashed. I'll throw the bodies of your dead down in front of your idols. And I'll lay the dead bodies of the people of Israel before their idols, and I'll scatter your bones round your altars. Everywhere you live, the cities will be laid out flat and the worship shrines will be a desolation — so your altars are laid out flat and destroyed, and your idols broken and finished, and your incense stands cut down, and what you've made wiped out. People will fall dead among you, and you'll know that I'm the LORD. But I'll leave a group of survivors — ones who escape from the sword among the nations, when you're scattered through the countries. And those of you who escape will remember me among the nations they're carried off to, when I've broken their whoring heart that turned away from me, and their eyes that went whoring after their idols. And they'll loathe themselves for the evils they've done in all their disgusting things. And they'll know that I'm the LORD, and that I didn't say for nothing that I'd do this evil to them.

And they that escape of you shall remember me among the nations whither they shall be carried captives, because I am broken with their whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a whoring after their idols: and they shall lothe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations. And they shall know that I am the LORD, and that I have not said in vain that I would do this evil unto them.

This is what the Lord GOD says: Clap your hands and stamp your foot and say: Trouble is coming for all the wicked disgusting things of the people of Israel, because they'll fall by the sword and by famine and by plague. The one far off will die of disease, the one near will fall by the sword, and the one who remains and is besieged will die by famine. In this way I will accomplish my fury upon them. Then you'll know that I'm the LORD, when their dead lie among their idols around their altars, on every high hill, on every mountain top, under every green tree and every thick oak — all the places where they offered a pleasing aroma to their idols. So I'll stretch out my hand over them and make the land a desolation, yes a desolation, from the wilderness to Diblah, everywhere they live. And they'll know that I'm the LORD.

Then shall ye know that I am the LORD, when their slain men shall be among their idols round about their altars, upon every high hill, in all the tops of the mountains, and under every green tree, and under every thick oak, the place where they did offer sweet savour to all their idols. So will I stretch out my hand upon them, and make the land desolate, yea, more desolate than the wilderness toward Diblath, in all their habitations: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
