Setting up the tent

The Lord spoke to Moses: 'On the first day of the first month, set up the tent of meeting.' You'll put the ark of the covenant in it, and cover the ark with the curtain. Bring in the table and arrange everything that belongs on it. Then bring in the lampstand and light its lamps. You'll set the golden altar for the incense in front of the ark of the covenant, and put the screen of the door to the tent. Place the altar of burnt offering before the entrance of the tent of meeting. You'll set the washbasin between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it. You'll set up the court all around and hang up the screen at the court gate. You'll take the anointing oil and anoint the tent and everything in it, and make it holy, and all its vessels. And it'll be holy. Anoint the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and make the altar holy. It will be most holy. You'll anoint the washbasin and its stand and make it holy. You'll bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the tent of meeting and wash them with water. You'll put the sacred garments on Aaron and anoint him and make him holy, so he can serve me as priest. You'll bring his sons and put coats on them. You'll anoint them as you anointed their father, so they can serve me as priests. Because their anointing will definitely be an everlasting priesthood through their generations. Moses did everything exactly as the Lord commanded him. And in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, the tent was set up. Moses set up the tent and fastened its bases and set up its boards and put in its bars and set up its pillars. He spread the tent out over the tent and put the covering of the tent above on it, as the Lord commanded Moses. He took the testimony and put it into the ark, set the carrying poles on the ark, and put the ark's cover above the ark. He brought the ark into the tent and set up the curtain of the covering and covered the ark of the covenant, as the Lord commanded Moses. He put the table in the tent of meeting, on the north side of the tent, outside the curtain. He set the bread in order on it before the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses. He put the lampstand in the tent of meeting, opposite the table, on the south side of the tent. He lit the lamps before the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses. He put the golden altar in the tent of meeting in front of the curtain. He burnt sweet incense on it, as the Lord commanded Moses. He set up the screen at the door of the tent. He placed the altar of burnt offering at the entrance of the tent of meeting and offered the burnt offering and grain offering on it, as the Lord commanded Moses. He set the washbasin between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water there to wash with. Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet at it. When they went into the tent of meeting and when they came near the altar, they washed, as the Lord commanded Moses. He set up the court around the tent and altar, and hung the screen at the court entrance. So Moses finished the work.

And the Lord spoke to Moses: On the first day of the first month you'll set up the tent of the tent of meeting. And you'll put the ark of the testimony in it, and cover the ark with the curtain. And you'll bring in the table and set in order the things that go on it. And you'll bring in the lampstand and light its lamps. And you'll set the golden altar for the incense in front of the ark of the testimony, and put the screen of the door to the tent. And you'll set the altar of the burnt offering in front of the door of the tent of the tent of meeting. And you'll set the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it. And you'll set up the court round about and hang up the screen at the court gate. And you'll take the anointing oil and anoint the tent and everything in it, and make it holy, and all its vessels. And it'll be holy. And you'll anoint the altar of the burnt offering and all its vessels, and make the altar holy. And it'll be a most holy altar. And you'll anoint the basin and its stand and make it holy. And you'll bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the tent of meeting and wash them with water. And you'll put the holy clothes on Aaron and anoint him and make him holy, so he can serve me as priest. And you'll bring his sons and put coats on them. And you'll anoint them the way you anointed their father, so they can serve me as priests. Because their anointing will definitely be an everlasting priesthood through their generations. So Moses did according to everything the Lord ordered him. That's what he did. And in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, the tent was set up. And Moses set up the tent and fastened its bases and set up its boards and put in its bars and set up its pillars. And he spread the tent out over the tent and put the covering of the tent above on it, the way the Lord ordered Moses. And he took the testimony and put it into the ark, and set the poles on the ark and put the covering above on the ark. And he brought the ark into the tent and set up the curtain of the covering and covered the ark of the testimony, the way the Lord ordered Moses. And he put the table in the tent of meeting, on the north side of the tent, outside the curtain. And he set the bread in order on it in front of the Lord, the way the Lord ordered Moses. And he put the lampstand in the tent of meeting, opposite the table, on the south side of the tent. And he lit the lamps in front of the Lord, the way the Lord ordered Moses. And he put the golden altar in the tent of meeting in front of the curtain. And he burnt sweet incense on it, the way the Lord ordered Moses. And he set up the screen at the door of the tent. And he put the altar of burnt offering by the door of the tent of the tent of meeting, and offered the burnt offering and the grain offering on it, the way the Lord ordered Moses. And he set the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water there to wash with. And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet at it. When they went into the tent of meeting and when they came near the altar, they washed, the way the Lord ordered Moses. And he set up the court round the tent and the altar, and set up the screen of the court gate. So Moses finished the work.

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, On the first day of the first month shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation. And thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony, and cover the ark with the vail. And thou shalt bring in the table, and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it; and thou shalt bring in the candlestick, and light the lamps thereof. And thou shalt set the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the testimony, and put the hanging of the door to the tabernacle. And thou shalt set the altar of the burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation. And thou shalt set the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and shalt put water therein. And thou shalt set up the court round about, and hang up the hanging at the court gate. And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is therein, and shalt hallow it, and all the vessels thereof: and it shall be holy. And thou shalt anoint the altar of the burnt offering, and all his vessels, and sanctify the altar: and it shall be an altar most holy. And thou shalt anoint the laver and his foot, and sanctify it. And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and wash them with water. And thou shalt put upon Aaron the holy garments, and anoint him, and sanctify him; that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office. And thou shalt bring his sons, and clothe them with coats: And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest’s office: for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations. Thus did Moses: according to all that the LORD commanded him, so did he. And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was reared up. And Moses reared up the tabernacle, and fastened his sockets, and set up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof, and reared up his pillars. And he spread abroad the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above upon it; as the LORD commanded Moses. And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy seat above upon the ark: And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the vail of the covering, and covered the ark of the testimony; as the LORD commanded Moses. And he put the table in the tent of the congregation, upon the side of the tabernacle northward, without the vail. And he set the bread in order upon it before the LORD; as the LORD had commanded Moses. And he put the candlestick in the tent of the congregation, over against the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward. And he lighted the lamps before the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses. And he put the golden altar in the tent of the congregation before the vail: And he burnt sweet incense thereon; as the LORD commanded Moses. And he set up the hanging at the door of the tabernacle. And he put the altar of burnt offering by the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation, and offered upon it the burnt offering and the meat offering; as the LORD commanded Moses. And he set the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and put water there, to wash withal. And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat: When they went into the tent of the congregation, and when they came near unto the altar, they washed; as the LORD commanded Moses. And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses finished the work.

For the cloud of the Lord was over the tent by day, and fire was on it by night, visible to all the Israelites throughout all their journeys.

Then a cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tent.
