A wandering Aramean
When you come into the land the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance, and you take it and live in it — Take the first of all the fruit of the earth that you bring from your land the Lord your God gives you, put it in a basket, and go to the place the Lord your God chooses to place his name there. You'll go to the priest who's there in those days and say to him: I profess today to the Lord your God that I've come into the land the Lord swore to our fathers to give us. And the priest will take the basket out of your hand and set it down before the altar of the Lord your God. You'll speak and say before the Lord your God, 'A Syrian ready to perish was my father. He went down into Egypt and stayed there with a few people, and there became a nation, great, mighty and populous. The Egyptians treated us harshly, made us suffer and forced us into hard slavery. When we cried to the Lord God of our fathers, the Lord heard our voice and looked on our suffering, our labour and our oppression. The Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with great terror and with signs and with wonders. He brought us into this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey. And now, look, I have brought the firstfruits of the land you, Lord, have given me.' Set it before the Lord your God and worship before the Lord your God. You'll rejoice in every good thing the Lord your God has given you and your household — you and the Levite and the stranger among you.
When you come into the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, and you take it and live in it — you'll take the first of all the fruit of the ground that you bring in from your land that the Lord your God is giving you, and put it in a basket and go to the place the Lord your God chooses to set his name there. And you'll go to the priest who's there in those days and say to him: I own today to the Lord your God that I've come into the land the Lord swore to our fathers to give us. And the priest will take the basket out of your hand and set it down in front of the altar of the Lord your God. And you'll speak up and say in front of the Lord your God: My father was a wandering Aramean, and he went down into Egypt with a few people and stayed there, and turned into a great nation, big and many. And the Egyptians dealt badly with us and troubled us and laid hard work on us. And when we cried out to the Lord God of our fathers, the Lord heard our voice and looked at what we were copping and our hard work and the crushing of us. And the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, with great terror and with signs and with wonders. And he's brought us into this place and given us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey. And now look — I've brought the first of the fruit of the land you've given me, Lord. And you'll set it down in front of the Lord your God and bow down in front of the Lord your God. And you'll celebrate in every good thing the Lord your God has given you and your household — you and the Levite and the stranger among you.
And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possessest it, and dwellest therein; That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name there. And thou shalt go unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say unto him, I profess this day unto the LORD thy God, that I am come unto the country which the LORD sware unto our fathers for to give us. And the priest shall take the basket out of thine hand, and set it down before the altar of the LORD thy God. And thou shalt speak and say before the LORD thy God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father, and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there with a few, and became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous: And the Egyptians evil entreated us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage: And when we cried unto the LORD God of our fathers, the LORD heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression: And the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders: And he hath brought us into this place, and hath given us this land, even a land that floweth with milk and honey. And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which thou, O LORD, hast given me. The tenth in the third year
When you've finished setting apart all the tithe of your increase in the third year, the year of the tithe, and given it to the Levite and the stranger and orphans and the widow, so they eat in your towns and have their fill — Then say before the Lord your God, 'I have brought the hallowed things out of my house and given them to the Levite, the stranger, orphans and the widow, according to all your commandments. I have not transgressed your commandments or forgotten them. I haven't eaten any of it in my mourning, or taken any of it away when I was unclean, or given any of it for the dead. I've listened to the Lord my God. I've done everything you commanded me. Look down from your holy dwelling place, from heaven, and bless your people Israel and the land you have given us, as you swore to our fathers — a land flowing with milk and honey.'
When you've finished setting apart all the tenth of your increase in the third year, the year of the tenth, and given it to the Levite and the stranger and the orphan and the widow, so they eat inside your gates and have their fill — then you'll say in front of the Lord your God: I've brought the holy things out of my house, and I've given them to the Levite and the stranger, to the orphan and the widow, the way you ordered me. I haven't stepped over your orders or forgotten them. I haven't eaten any of it in my mourning, or taken any of it away when I was unclean, or given any of it for the dead. I've listened to the voice of the Lord my God. I've done everything you ordered me. Look down from your holy dwelling, from heaven, and bless your people Israel and the land you've given us, the way you swore to our fathers — a land flowing with milk and honey.
When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled; Then thou shalt say before the LORD thy God, I have brought away the hallowed things out of mine house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them: I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I taken away ought thereof for any unclean use, nor given ought thereof for the dead: but I have hearkened to the voice of the LORD my God, and have done according to all that thou hast commanded me. Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
