Faith wins against the world

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children as well. This is how we know we love the children of God: when we love God and keep his commandments. Because this is the love of God: that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not a burden. Because everyone born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world but the one who believes Jesus is the Son of God? This is the one who came by water and blood — Jesus Christ. Not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit. And these three are one. And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood. And these three agree as one. If we accept the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, because this is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony in himself. Whoever doesn't believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he hasn't believed the testimony God gave about his Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life. Whoever doesn't have the Son of God doesn't have life.

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. And everyone who loves the one who fathered loves the one who's fathered of him too. By this we know we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his orders. Because this is the love of God, that we keep his orders. And his orders aren't heavy. Because whatever's born of God wins against the world. And this is the win that wins against the world, our faith. Who's the one who wins against the world, but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? This is the one who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ — not by water only but by water and blood. And it's the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. Because there are three who bear record in heaven — the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit. And these three are one. And there are three who bear witness on earth — the Spirit and the water and the blood. And these three agree in one. If we take the witness of men, the witness of God is greater. Because this is the witness of God that he's testified of his Son. The one who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself. The one who doesn't believe God has made him a liar, because he doesn't believe the record God gave of his Son. And this is the record — that God has given us everlasting life, and this life is in his Son. The one who's got the Son has life. And the one who hasn't got the Son of God hasn't got life.

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Confidence in him

I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so you may know you have eternal life, and so you may believe in the name of the Son of God. And this is the confidence we have in him: if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know he hears us, whatever we ask, we know we have what we asked of him. If anyone sees his brother sin a sin that is not to death, he'll ask, and he'll give him life for those who sin not to death. There is a sin to death; I am not saying he should pray for it. All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that doesn't lead to death. We know that whoever is born of God does not sin. But the one born of God keeps himself, and that wicked one does not touch him. We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in wickedness. And we know the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

These things I've written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so you can know you've got everlasting life and so you can believe in the name of the Son of God. And this is the confidence we've got in him — that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know he hears us, whatever we ask, we know we've got the things we wanted of him. If any man sees his brother sin a sin not to death, he'll ask, and he'll give him life for the ones who don't sin to death. There's a sin to death. I don't say he should pray for it. All unrighteousness is sin. And there's a sin not to death. We know that whoever's born of God doesn't sin. But the one who's fathered of God keeps himself, and that wicked one doesn't touch him. And we know we're of God, and the whole world lies in wickedness. And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, so we can know the one who is true. And we're in the one who's true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and everlasting life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
